What Jobly is
Jobly is a Chrome extension that tailors your résumé to a job description using only facts from your own résumé. It never invents skills, titles, or metrics, and it never sells your data.
Data you provide
- Résumé text — sent to the Jobly backend only when you click “Tailor to this job” so we can generate tailored bullets and a cover letter. It is stored locally in your browser between sessions; we do not keep it on our servers after a run completes.
- Job description text — read from the page you’re viewing (or pasted by you) and sent to the backend for the same run. Not retained after the run.
- Install ID — an anonymous, per-install identifier used to enforce the free trial limit (N tailors per install). It cannot identify you personally.
- Licence key — if you subscribe, the key the extension uses to validate your paid status with the backend.
How your data is processed
Tailoring runs on Google Cloud (Cloud Run + Vertex AI). We act as the processor for the text you submit, and we do not use it to train models or for any purpose other than producing your tailored output.
Payments
Subscriptions are handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record. Paddle processes payment details; Jobly only receives subscription status events (active / canceled / updated) keyed to your subscription and the licence key you use. We never see or store your card details.
What we store
- Your licence record (subscription id, status, customer id) — needed to gate tailoring.
- Your trial counter (per anonymous install id) — needed to enforce the free limit.
- An audit trail of tailoring runs (counts and gate decisions, not your résumé text).
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or third parties.
- We do not read your browsing history or any page other than the job description you act on.
- We do not use your data for creditworthiness, lending, or employment decisions.
Retention & deletion
Résumé and job-description text is processed for the run and not persisted by the backend. You can clear your locally stored résumé at any time from the extension. To request deletion of your licence or audit records, email privacy@jobly.browser-tools.com.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and, where required, notify you through the extension.
